On July 25, 2015, the South extension of Chengdu Metro line 1 officially opened for trial operation, it is the first urban railway transit project which undertook by CEC for engineering survey and design with general contract package.

The south extension of Chengdu Metro line 1 starts from Shijicheng station and ends at Guangdu station with the total length of 5.41KM. It has 5 stations including 2 interchange stations, all underground structure.It takes only 33 minutes from Guangdu station to Tianfu Square station.After opening of extension line of Metro 1, the “cross-shaped frame”, the most important part of Chengdu Metro network is becoming more perfect, more quick and convenient connection between Chengdu downtown and Tianfu new district. It plays an important role for traffic improvement, congestion releasing and providing the convenience to the local citizens.

The preliminary design of the project was started at February of 2012 and opened for trial operation on July 25, 2015 with the construction period of 3 years and 5 months. The project opening is the milestone for engineering survey and design with general packageof the urban railway transit for CEC. It also lay the cornerstone for CEC to develop urban railtransit engineering survey and design market in Chengdu and even in all over the country.
